About Me
I’m a mother of three wonderful kids, many dogs, horses and one lucky cat. Life has been non-stop, my husband Paul and I enjoying all the school sports, events and friendships that come along with a big family. As my last child moved into high school, I realized it was time to look at myself (and that I better find something to do with my time because he was going to college and not going to let me lock him in his room). I entered an MFA program and began to pursue my dream of writing while working in marketing in our family’s business.
I took a class during the program on freelance writing and was hooked. The article I wrote for an assignment earned an Honorable Mention in the Reader’s Digest Writer Awards for Best Article Writing.

This shorter form of writing allowed me to learn about people, places and issues in the subject areas that interested me. I was hooked.
Now, I work as a freelance writer focusing on food, health and wellness, travel and lifestyle topics. I’ve written for Eating Well, BBC Travel, Insider, Eat This, Not That, Microsoft News and tons of other publications online and in print. Learning to navigate this career has been challenging, sometimes frustrating and always rewarding. I’ve taken this insider knowledge and made it available in books and courses to give anyone looking for a remote career in freelance writing a headstart. These great products will be rolling out in early 2022, so click here to get notified when they publish.
Thank you for checking out my website. I hope to be working with you soon!

Things I love
We are full of animal love around our house. I have two gorgeous horses – Henry and Limerick. All the kids adopted dogs while in college and we have a few (Marley pictured). It’s like a doggy day care at Christmas when they come home.
I’m always in the kitchen. As a former home chef and caterer, it’s my playground. You can follow foodandwriting.com for recipes and food from my travels, the Savannah area and press samples. Hope you enjoy!
